Matcha Coffee

This matcha coffee is not only beautiful. It's healthy and delicious! You can enjoy it hot or cold, but it makes a beautiful presentation served with ice in a tall glass. Refreshing and so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar Or sweetener like Swerve.
  • hot water
  • 2 tablespoons milk We used 2% milk. You can use whole milk for a richer coffee. You can also substitute a dairy-free milk like almond, walnut, or soy.
  • 1 shot espresso
  • ice cubes

Instructions

For iced version

  • Add matcha powder and sugar or sweetener to a tall glass.
  • Pour in 2-3 tablespoons of hot water.
    Stir until matcha and sugar are dissolved.
  • Add ½ cup of crushed or cubed ice.
  • Add milk.
  • Add espresso. To retain the beautiful ombre effect, do not stir.

For hot version

  • Brew one cup of coffee.
  • Stir in matcha powder and sweetener until dissolved.
  • Stir in milk or cream.

Matcha Coffee Latte or Cappuccino

  • Add ½ cup of milk to a milk frother or metal cup. (The coffee maker we recommend has a milk frother attached.) If using a metal cup, froth the milk with a frothing wand. Set aside.
  • Add matcha powder and sugar or sweetener to a large mug.
  • Brew 2 shots of espresso into the mug. Stir to dissolve the matcha and sugar.
  • Pour the frothed milk into the mug and spoon the milk foam over the top.
